Dental DWD 24/25, NOR058: Healthy Dentistry/Oral Surgery for Medically Compromised Patients

Aims:

The aim of this course is to improve the dental management of patients with common medical conditions that may be encountered in the dental setting.

During the session the course provider will provide these Objectives:

1. To examine aspects of general medicine and surgery of relevance to dental practice.

2. To improve the understanding of management of patients with common conditions such as bleeding disorders, cancers, chronic health conditions and those on long term medication.

3. To discuss the pathway being developed in the region for patients with medical conditions

Learning outcomes:

After this course delegates will be able to:

1. Outline effective strategies for the management of potential challenges and complications in patients with medical conditions .

2. Know how to manage patients on various medications and their interactions.

3. Identify the referral pathway and  when and how to refer patients.

This course meets GDC Development Outcome: D

This course is being delivered by Mr. Prem Nair - Specialist Oral Surgeon and Clinical Lead for the Oral Surgery Services in Cambridge's Community services and Ho. Oral Specialist Oral Surgeon, Cambridge University Hospital.
